Cheryl D. Duffin attended the University of St. Thomas in Houston, TX where she studied playwriting and acting. In 1991 she moved to Chicago, where she continued to act and write plays, and eventually joined Footsteps Theatre as a company member and the Director of Women's Writes. Cheryl moved back to Houston in 1996 and currently performs in professional children's theatre, teaches summer theatre to 1st-5th graders and pursues her career as a playwright.

Survival Of Ukocono
Synopsis:
Once every seven years, the invisible amazon island of Ukocono becomes visible to the outside world! For their own safety, and that of their unspoiled rainforest, the Ukocono tribe must keep the island safe from intruders. But when a cast of kooky characters-including three shipwrecked surfer dudes, an English scientist and her assistant, and a real estate developer and his lumberjack friend-show up to investigate the mysterious island, the delicate balance of the tribe's rainforest home is threatened. With roles for performers of all levels, Survival of Ukocono is a rainforest comedy that will entertain and edify.

(RECENTLY earned A Texas UIL rating of '1' At A Zone competition!) A comedy About rainforest conservation, written specifically for youth theatre, perfect for One Act Play competitions. Originally performed by 3-5 grade theatre students, it's most often performed by middle school students. Although the original script shows roles for 13 females And 8 males, it should be noted that A majority of the roles Are NOT gender specific And can be cast either way. This makes this script particularly flexible.
