Michael Edgar worked as an actor with the National Theatre of Great Britain, Melbourne Theatre Company and the Mill Theatre before he began teaching at the University of Tasmania. In 2008 he retired as Artistic Director of CentreStage. He recently translated and dramatised a version of Tales from the Decameron.
