esosa is a writer/actor/director/fashion designer/ artist-at-large with a degree in Fashion Design from Cornell University & Central St. Martins School of Design in London, business training from Columbia University, and acting training from the NYU Tisch School, Cornell University, the actor's Workshop of Ithaca, British American Drama academy, Joseph Papp Public Theater's Shakespeare Lab, Labyrinth Theater Company's Master Class and the actor's Center Conservatory. During her college career she wrote several one act plays including Mary's Venus, Blues electric Grief Chamber, and Vivian X, which won the 2005 Heerman's-McCalmon Playwriting award and was subsequently an alternate for the New Reader's Series at the National Black Theater Festival. the play was produced as a reading in august 2007, as a part of the TheaterVision Playtime Series at the 78th Street Theater Lab. Within the realm of filmmaking, esosa wrote, directed, and starred in two films: Simple as Blk & White (2004), and 50 Bucks in argentina (2007). Shortly after graduating she played the role of Cher, in "Lark & Cher" which aired ten times on BeTJ's Best Shorts program. In august 2007, based on the merit of her two beginning attempts as a filmmaker, she was selected as a finalist and then won a mentorship with Hollywood director Joel Schumacher, (a Time to Kill, Batman Begins, Sparkle) on the MTVu reality segment "Meet or Delete." Upon selecting her as a finalist Schumacher said, "esosa, Wow. So multi-talented; a designer, wordsmith, political commentator and excEllent early attempts as a filmmaker. . .You are a star. " During her fashion studies in the US and UK she won numerous awards including the Black Fashion Museum Design Competition, and was a two-time recipient of a grant to fund her fashion collections from the Cornell Council of the Arts. Since then she has worked as a freelance assistant in the design departments for fashion companies such as Vera Wang, Converse, J.Crew. She is currently assisting Zulema Griffin of Project Runway with the patterns for her fashion week collection and continues to perform on an ongoing basis in the hit Off- Broadway show Platanos & Collard Greens. as a model, in 2003 she won the avon Goal Model Competition and served as a spokesperson for their new line of products. In May 2007, she was chosen by Models.com to be featured in a member spotlight. She recently graced the pages of essence, L, and Blackbook Magazines, modeled for the Zulema 07' fashion week campaign, and can also be seen on the promotional materials for many independent designers in the NY areA. Her mission is to be a working force in the entertainment industry because she believes in the great capacity art has to shape the global socio-political climate.
