Born in Hamilton in 1944, Frank Edwards completed a BA at Canterbury University then taught for seven years before becoming a professional actor and writer in 1974. After taking the lead role of Dick Norris in NZBC's Depression series THE LONGEST WINTER, he had eight month's contract to Downstage Theatre, then joined Television One in 1975 to write for the domestic serial CLOSE TO HOME for which he has had a writing credits to date of one hundred and seventy episodes. His two stage plays, BULLY (1976) and PIGLAND PROPHET (1978), have been produced by professional theatres and a full-length radio play, HABIT habit CLOGS THEM DUMB was broadcast on the concert programme in 1977.
