Above the Bitter Cafe

Above the Bitter Cafe
Jenny ananias is on the verge of being fired from her high school teaching job. So what better time to take a group of students on a New York theatre trip? Now to be fair, things were actually going smoothly for Mrs. ananias at first--until that unfortunate "coin off the empire State Building" incident. Of course, there was that typical teacher/student romance misunderstanding that happens on all student trips. . .and the angry, browless cafe manager. . .and the bungee jumping with the Martha Stewart bed sheets. . .and of course, a handful of angry Muppets. . .In the tradition of a classic French farce, this fast moving full length play is guaranteed to sell tickets!

Sandora's Box

Synopsis:
Money and fame seeking Dr. Ken Sandora has invented a revolutionary box that allows people to slip in and out of hypnosis with the push of a button. In order to experiment with his new box, the doctor invites four of his current patients over to spend the weekend in his home in Greenwich, Connecticut. But there's something standing in the way of him achieving instant success. . .well, actually, a few things. If it weren't for a jealous colleague, a distraught boyfriend, a humongous female housekeeper, and a strip teasing agoraphobic, things might have turned out differently! and, of course, there's the boy who can't stop reading the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, a post traumatic stress disorder sufferer, a hired cook who steals Chia Heads but refuses to hurt a lobster, and an appearance by Superman/Batman/Zorro to push things along as well! as in most farces, doors get slammed, people run in and out of the room, people fall in and out of chimneys, and lobsters do have a tendency to get hurt. Take a look at Sandora's Box and keep your eye out for spoofs on the Miracle Worker and the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe! This show is perfect for junior high and high schools, and adults will love watching your production as well!

Shoe Booties

Synopsis:
West takes place inside the Shubert theatre in Los Angeles, California. Ian, who once left his home town of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota to pursue an acting career, has invited his brother and two friends to the opening of a long awaited musical revival. Since Ian has managed to gain some success in his new founded career, he is very concerned with his public image. It's really too bad for him though, for things get quite hectic when Ian's brother takes a handful of muscle relaxers, his best friend crashes his new car and brings the steering wheel in with her (the Club attached), and (whoops) his fiancee manages to shove Harrison Ford down an escalator. Oh, yeah, and what the heck does Bea arthur have to do with all this?"Shote Booties" was first produced by the In-Between Work Players at theatre Unlimited in Hollywood, California in 1996 under the title " West of Pelican Rapids." In 1997, a high school in Minnesota produced the show, and since then West has been performed twice at Griffiths Middle School in Downey, California. the In-Between Work Players produced it once more in the summer of 1999. This is a very easy show to stage with a hassle free set.

these Actors Of Mine

Synopsis:
In the tradition of "Noises Off" comes a play the theatre doesn't really need: a play about a bunch of actors putting on a play! But what the heck, what's one more? the story has to do with Jacquie and her screwed up actors preparing for their production of Romeo and Juliet. and along with any bad production comes the usual problems: people forget lines, the sound and light cues don't go as programmed, flashers are arrested, turkey legs are used as lethal devices, actresses go into labor, etc., etc., etc. . ..you know the drill! But as much as we've seen several plays about the theatre, this one is as fresh as anyone you'll ever produce. It's great for an entire class production and it has plenty of female roles!
