a founder member of Limerick based Theatre company amalgamotion, Helena graduated with an Ma in Drama & Theatre Studies from UCC in 2005. as an actor she has worked with Island Theatre, V-Day Ireland, Cecilians, Torch, Teaspach, La Cosa Nostra, CentreStage, Limerick Panto Society and for film and TV has appeared in Cowboys & angels, Killnascully and Xit Poll. as a Drama Teacher/Facilitator she has worked on numerous community projects in Limerick. Previous work as a director includes "Duet" for amalgamotion, "Hit" for Limerick Youth Theatre, "Fame" & "Oklahoma" for St Munchins & ard Scoil Mhuire and "D'Tension" for Presentation Secondary School. "Walking away", Helena's second documentary style play just won Best Production at the Belltable Unfringed Festival. Island Theatre produced her first play, the critically acclaimed "Less Than a Year" in November 2006. Helena is currently based in the UK, where she is undertaking a PHD in Documentary Theatre at the University of exeter.

Less Than A Year
Synopsis:
tells a beautifully balanced story of a couple attempting to deal with the trials and tribulations of the health service, before their teenage daughter finally succumbs to ewings Sarcoma. Less Than a Year is written in a documentary style, where real events inform the writing. Helena recorded the words of a real life mother and Father and turned their story into a play

Walking Away
Synopsis:
Based on the true testimony of women who have survived domestic abuse Walking away was written using the documentary style with particular reference to theatre of Testimony, a form of theatre, which uses real people's real words to give a voice to those who often don't have the opportunity to be heard. a tribute to the strength and courage of these women the play follows the stories and extraordinary experiences of real women who have somehow found the strength to walk away from domestic abuse.
