Firebird, The
Synopsis:
"THE FIREBIRD is a play steeped in the long history of a family and a neighborhood (in this case, the intersecting edges of Prospect Heights, Crown Heights and Bed Stuy in Brooklyn). It talks about roots and how deep or shallow they are. It talks about class and economics, and how those roots are affected by money and the need for money. It talks about race without being a race play. It talks about expectations you have for your children, for them to succeed and what happens if your definition of success is different from your child's. And finally, it talks about debts--both tangible and intangible--and how those debts can ever be paid. Ultimately, I think these things add up to the American Dream." - Tim Errickson

Warm Roses
Synopsis:
Warm Roses is a free adaptation of Chekhovs Uncle Vanya. Meg runs two Jersey Shore bed and breakfast inns left to her by her late husband. With the help of her son Marcus and best friend Joanie, shes keeping the places afloat and most of her sanity. As another summer winds down in the long line of endless summers, Megs brother in law Terry and his young graduate assistant Oliver come to stay, upsetting the daily balance. With Terrys arrival also comes the memory of Megs late husband and the losses shes racked up along the way. As Labor Day approaches, Marcus prepares to leave home for school, Terry proposes a change to the current financial model, and Joanie makes a rash sexual advance that could have lasting consequences. In the middle of all of this remains Meg--at once lonely and in good company--as a bulwark against the changing moment in both her life and the life of her family. The end of summer sees all forces crash together in furious moments of loss and hilarity, desire and reticence, weakness and strength
