Rachel Graf Evans is a native and proud New Yorker. She holds a BA in Drama and English, Cum Laude, from Tufts University, and studied for a semester at the British American Drama Academy in London. She spent a year in New Mexico as an Americorps volunteer, teaching theatre and poetry at an arts center before moving back to NYC. She has studied playwriting with Tanya Barfield. As a writer, her play "Waiting" premiered in 2006 with the Elevator Up Theatre Company's Summer Shorts Festival, and her play "The Door" was a finalist in the Estrogenius Festival at Manhattan Theatre Source. Her one-woman show that she wrote, starred in and produced, "Jew Wish" (directed by Rachel Eckerling) premiered at the New York International Fringe Festival in 2010 and since then has been performed at the Museum at Eldridge Street, the Planet Connections Theatre Festivity (nominated for Outstanding performance in a Solo Show, and Greener Planet Award) and Congregation Agudath Israel in New Jersey. For two years, she was the monthly dating columnist for the website nyblueprint.com. As an actress, she has appeared Off-Broadway in "The Blue Bird" (Urban Stages), and "Macrune's Guevara" and "Richard and Anne" (Mirror Repertory Company). Rachel has performed improv and sketch comedy at the PIT (People's Improv Theatre), and is a member of The Project Rushmore Theatre Company. Rachel works as a teaching artist for many non-profits such as Making Books Sing and Enact, teaching interactive storytelling and using theatre as a tool to teach literacy, social and emotional skills, and more. In June 2013, she will receive her MA in Applied Theatre at the CUNY School of Professional Studies, and her work as an applied theatre practitioner most recently took her to Rwanda in July 2012, to work with drama teachers at the Kigali Institute of Education. She is grateful to her parents for always supporting her endeavors in the arts. She is a member of Actors Equity.
