Joseph Fabry was born in austria and emigrated to the USA in 1938. He became a scriptwriter for the Office of War Information - later known as the Voice of America. For twenty-five years he was an editor at the University of California. He translated many european authors into English either by himself or with his life long friend - also an editor at University of California - Max Knight and with his wife Judith Fabry. He and Judith were married for 58 years and had two children
