Alice: An Evening With the Tart-Tongued Daughter Of theodore Roosevelt
Synopsis:
It's June of 1971, Tricia Nixon is getting married, and every reporter in town is determined to interview the oldest living White House bride, 80-something Alice Roosevelt Longworth. Long before there was a Lady Gaga or a Jenna Bush, there was alice. She was the daughter of one of America's favorite Presidents, theodore Roosevelt and wife to a Speaker of the House. Alice made headlines in an era when tabloid journalism was exploding. She was tall, gorgeous, and loved to shock the American public with her antics. She endures - perhaps because every other sentence she uttered was a sound bite with teeth that still nip. Alice offers opinions on Richard Nixon and several other presidents. But she is also trying to justify her own gadfly existence to herself - and to her father. the ghost of TR appears in the play to question alice's version of events and force her to confront the truths in her own life: her unhappy relationship with her daughter, the infidelity of her husband, her own marital indiscretion, and her selfishness in general. Welcome to an evening with the ultimate political celebrity: Alice Roosevelt Longworth.

Instead of jolly old St. Nick, kids wait for Sinterklaas - a bishop who arrives from Spain on a boat. the Sint's companion is the politically incorrect jester in blackface Zwarte Piet. Tahira - like all the Dutch kids - falls in love with Piet. Her grandmother is horrified. Time of the Troubles
Synopsis:
Why does brother turn against brother, almost overnight? That's the question that haunts the characters of Time of the Troubles. the play is set at Christmastime, in a poor parish on the outskirts of Dandora, on the eve of the bloody 2007 elections. But it's as much a story about the LA riots and how the violence haunts a pair of cops who were stranded in South Central as the violence erupted. Drama. Recommended for ages 13 and up.
