exploring the life and work of the 19th century artist Sir William Blake Richmond. Sir William was a prolific portraitist and sculptor, but considered his mosaic decorations in St Paul's Cathedral to be his masterpiece. Something of a conservative rebel, Sir William revered his immediate predecessors in the PreRaphaelite movement and scorned the modernist ideologies of many of his contemporaries. Rory's play draws on Sir William's own words from letters and diaries to reveal a complex, passionate artist, and a great talent undermined by fashionable opinion.
