Jose Ramón Fernandez (Madrid, Espana. 1962) is one of the premier dramatists of the nineties gerneration. His dramatic writing is characterised by four key features: stories of people; a reality that goes beyond the tangible; an unwavering sense of drive in his treatment of language; and an approach which offers up the text as a dialogue between the other creators who take part in the performance. He is author of some twenty plays. In 1993 he received the Calderón prize for Para quemar la memoria and in 1998 was a finalist for the Tirso de Molina prize for La tierra. He has taken part in a number of collaborative efforts including: texts with the Teatro del Astillero and the Trilogia de la juventud produced by Cuarta Pared.

Synopsis: | After many years Nina has returned to her home town. In the bar of the hotel where she is staying, she finds herself reunited with Blas, an old friend from happier times. Together they conjure up the good old times, and with them the inevitable dark moments that Nina has experienced since she left. Esteban, whose daughter is the same age as Nina and Blas and who has known them since they were children, hopes this encounter will offer them a solution to the struggle of their lives, held fast in their silent desperation. As the night draws on, Nina and Blas together seek a way to make the next day worth living. | |||||
