Lucio. . .Less Cuban Than Ever

Lucio. . .Less Cuban Than Ever

Synopsis:
From poverty to politics as a City Commissioner. . . from playing barefoot in ditches with paper boats as a kid to singing in New York City. . . this is Lucio's story. He was born in Havana, Cuba to a poor family. His mother was a seamstress and one of sixteen children. He and his mother had to leave Cuba when he was still a child due to political reasons, and because his Father was a political prisoner. they lived in Spain for one year before arriving in the United States. they settled in New Jersey, where he still calls home. after graduating from Rutgers University he became a professional actor traveling the world with several Broadway shows. Increasingly becoming more socially conscious, he set out to help others, leading him to become involved with many charities, serving on many boards, and finally becoming a Commissioner for the City of Union City. In his act, Lucio. . . Less Cuban Than ever, he discusses the challenges of being an artist while serving as a "politician". He jokes about being a Cuban-American singing Broadway tunes, and of being an artist in the world of "machismo".
