Juliana Francis is a playwright, an OBIE and Dramalogue award winning actress, and a doll maker. She has acted for many great avant garde directors in the US, Europe and asia, including Reza abdoh, Richard Foreman, anne Bogart, Dalia Ibelhauptaite, Hal Hartley, Young Jean Lee and Pavol LiskA. after the untimely death of her mentor, Mr. abdoh, Ms. Francis began writing plays. Her plays have been produced and published in New York, London (at The Institute for Contemporary arts), Graz, Oslo, Rome, athens, and Kiel. She has received project support from the NEa, NYSCa, The Jerome Foundation, Sundance Screenwriting Lab, chashama and TCG, and is currently writing ECSTaTIC STaTES, a play inspired by 1872 presidential candidate and spiritualist Victoria Woodhull, for the award-winning Foundry Theatre. Ms. Francis has also written a screenplay adaptation of her play, SaINT LaTRICE, for Christine Vachon's Killer Films Company.

Inspired by an article in The New Yorker titled 'God Doesn't Need Ole anthony', Death Might Be Your Santa Claus explores the intersection of faith and capitalism in American today. The show centers around Ole anthony, a 68-year-old man in Dallas who leads a group of former homeless and addicts in an undercover spy operation to expose televangelistic fraud. Other source material includes the faith-based merchandise department at Wal-Mart, testimonies of lightning victims, the oncology ward, Internet prayer circles, 1940s musicals, and Tammy Faye
