FYSA is a Sheffield-based independent theatre company. We are committed to engaging with a wide variety of people throughout the local area, whilst creating accessible and challenging work for our diverse membership base. We began our time as a company in March 2013 with The Last Five Years, which played to full houses throughout Sheffield, and followed this with a series of workshops for schools and more mature local theatre organisations based around our next project, a similarly well-received production of William Goldings Lord of the Flies. Our final Sheffield performance took place in March 2014 with a production of Edges, which received 5-star reviews. Throughout the companys time in Sheffield we specialised in fostering links with the community. Through our outreach programme we made connections with a number of Sheffield secondary schools who came to watch our shows, as well as attending post-show discussions and in-school workshops which we provided. This past year, our outreach team has continued to provide free theatre workshops for over 1,000 students and older theatrically minded groups in the local area. FYSA Theatre is a non-profit organisation. The proceeds of our shows go towards facilitating these free workshops and making a variety of charitable donations.

Synopsis:

'We want social housing, not social cleansing' On 19th October 2013, 29 sheltering single mothers and children received eviction letters. Faced with the treat of skyrocketing rent of forced eviction, these women launched a campaign that pushed housing to the top of the political agenda. From the Houses of Parliament to the streets of Newham, this piece of documentary theatre is adapted exclusively from real-life testimonies to provide a truthful re-telling of a national issue and how one group of women refused to be marginalized. As ever-increasing cuts threaten social welfare, how does our country view housing in 2015? E15 explores the most prominent yet ignored issues in Britain today. This is the beginning of the end of the housing crisis.
