Blame It On the Pony Express

Synopsis:
Gideon Culpepper opens the Last Chance Inn and the guests pour in immediately! Dashing Horace Prickley agrees to help poor flower-peddler Flossie McDurdle become a lady, so she can win her heart's true love, the spineless but wealthy Theodore Vanderthistle. Teddy's scheming mother, Vedalia, has other plans though. She sends for Posey Lee Perriwinkle, a beautiful Southern belle who arrives via Pony Express as a mail-order bride. Unfortunately, Posey falls for Gideon instead. Meanwhile Horace finds that he is falling for Flossie and facing the dilEmma of helping her and therefore losing her to Teddy. This clever play, a prequel to the other Calamity Gulch comedies, weaves together elements of My Fair Lady and Gone with the Wind. About 80 minutes.

Bride Of Uforia

Synopsis:
The tranquil charm of a quaint lodge is threatened when a mysterious spacecraft lands nearby. Evil Queen Uforia has come to Earth to capture every able-bodied man and return with them to the waiting Uforian females. Her powerful ray gun is capable of zombifying anyone who stands in her path. What can the humans do? Lodge owner Lottie Putnam only feels courageous in the kitchen, while her teenaged niece Bianca wants to run away with the handsome Peyton Mayhew, an escaped convict. Handyman Caleb is helpless and hopeless, especially around one of the guests, the beautiful heiress Julia Radcliffe. Trevor Scott, a cynical reporter, and Prof. Wendell Teasdale, a noted astrophysicist, argue over who will sacrifice himself to save the planet. But time is running out if they hope to rescue all of mankind from being groomed for the Bride of Uforia!

Burying the Hatchetts

Synopsis:
Aspiring performer Daphne Prescott and her faithful maid and companion, Greta Gump, have become stranded on a deserted road in the English countryside. The ladies soon find themselves guests of the cursed Hatchett House, a creepy old manor with a peculiar history and even more peculiar inhabitants. Lord Esmond Hatchett seems to be highly sensitive to light and noise and deep in mourning for his late wife, while the rest of the family has morbid quirks of their own. Daphne may be in for more than she bargained for in this easy to stage, delightfully comedic thriller reminiscent of the classic 1960's horror film.

Cheerio, Y'All!

Synopsis:
Ivory Keyes, the sharp-tongued, shoot-from-the-hip piano player from the "Calamity Gulch" trilogy, is back in her own brand-new adventure. When Ivory learns that her uncle, Lord Ebony Keyes, has died, she and Sheriff Prettyfoot travel to England to claim the inheritance. The family solicitor, Basil Q. Wainscoting, Esquire, plots to keep the estate to himself by proving Ivory to be "unvirtuous." His plans are foiled when his handsome nephew, Heathcliff, a poet, falls instead for pretty secretary, Paisley Fairfax. Before too long, a storm is raging outside and a murder has been committed inside. Everyone has their own ideas as to "whodunit." Was it the butler? Or the mysterious lady in black? Even Ivory herself is a suspect! Can Sheriff Prettyfoot solve the crime and clear Ivory's name? Will Paisley find true love - and her true identity? Will Heath ever find a rhyme for "purple"? These and other questions are answered in this fast-paced, single-set, comedy. Full evening.

Hartburn Hotel

Synopsis:
Faced with losing the Last Chance Inn once again, Ma and Pa Culpepper turn to glamorous Sahara Hartburn. Sahara pays off their loan with money from a "well-heeled admirer" and promptly takes over the inn. Transformed into the Hartburn Hotel, the place becomes a residence for young ladies with a "no men allowed upstairs" policy. Sahara schemes to find a scandal that will give her new venture some publicity, and finds it when the new schoolteacher, Polly Sincere, is paid a visit by her dapper and devoted boyfriend, Jasper Jones - in her room! To escape, Jasper dresses as a girl and poses as "Jasmine Sincere," Polly's sister. Complications arise when a visiting sheriff falls for "Jasmine" and "her" sudden disappearance leads Sahara to accuse Polly of murder! An attempt to clear Polly's name, an outrageous chase, and the search for a bank robber all conspire to bring the play to a surprising - and side-splitting - conclusion. Full evening.

Invitation To Murder

Synopsis:
Lord and Lady Lexington have picked a rather beastly night to throw a haunted house party in their newly acquired home, Foxworth Manor. Oddly, the guest list appears to be made up of disparate and desperate strangers. There's the pretty secretary, the acerbic gossip columnist, the local physician, the flighty real-estate agent and a handsome, but somewhat surly young man. Foxworth Manor has a tragic history, and this evening will prove to be no exception. As the storm rages on outside, the guests suddenly discover that not everyone is quite the stranger they appear to be. . .and more than one of them may have murder in mind. This single-set, easy-to-produce play provides enough laughs and chills for a full evening.

Last Chance Inn, Calamity Gulch

Synopsis:
Ma and Pa Culpepper are in danger of losing their livelihood - the Last Chance Inn - to Horace Prickley, a representative from the loan offices of Gimme, Gimme & Gimme. In need of a son or son-in-law, the Culpeppers scheme to adopt and marry off pretty (but clumsy) orphan-turned-waitress, Patience Sweetwater. The intended groom is the newly-appointed Sheriff Virgil St. Vigil, who makes the rounds with his deputy and trusted side-kick, Princess Prettyfoot. Prickley learns of the Culpeppers' plot and enlists the aid of the beautiful Sahara Hartburn to "distract" the Sheriff from Patience. This whimsical, fast-paced melodrama offers sight gags, puns and an array of comedic supporting characters, including the sharp-tongued Ivory Keyes at the piano; the elbow-bending Happy Bartender; the Culpeppers' frumpy daughter, Chastity; the woeful Widder Black; and three tipsy Temperance Ladies. As much fun for the actors as the audience.

Punch And Prudie

Synopsis:
Narrated by a flustered but well-meaning fairy named Fortunata, this charming original fairy tale for children tells the story of Tucker, a handsome young man who sets out to seek his fortune. Fortunata decides the young man must be aided by his two pets, Punch the dog and Prudie the cat, who chase and tease each other like, well, cats and dogs! Tucker, though dubious, agrees. Fortunata also gives Tucker a magical ring which grants him any wish, although he must use it wisely. On his journey Tucker becomes smitten with a lovely young maiden Annalise, and he admits that his recent appearance of wealth to impress her is due to the ring. Unfortunately, the ring is soon stolen and it's up to Punch and Prudie, and a sweet little mouse named Vita, to help prove that the power of friendship is greater than even the magic of the ring.

Return To Calamity Gulch

Synopsis:
The Culpeppers open the doors to the Last Chance Inn once again in this hilarious sequel to "Last Chance Inn, Calamity Gulch." Ma's just as harried, Pa's just as cantankerous, and Horace Prickley is just as villainous! This time he plots to woo and wed the woeful Widder Black and take control of her fortune. It seems, however, that Horace may have to share the money with the Widder's noble nephew, Peter Loveless. . .if the young man finds a bride before the week is out. Enter two likely prospects - Pansy Perriwinkle (the most annoyingly sweet heroine ever to grace a melodrama stage!) and her outrageously mean sister, Violet. When Peter falls for the lovely Pansy, both Horace and Violet scheme to keep them apart. This single-set, easy to produce play features a rollicking chase scene complete with an abundance of brides, outlaws, and Calamity cream pies! Full evening.
