Dan Giles's plays have been performed or developed at the Kennedy Center, Dixon Place, the New York Fringe, the International Student Drama Festival (UK), and the Great Plains Theatre Conference, with short work at Pittsburgh Opera and Williamstown Theatre Festival. Awards and fellowships include an Alfred P. Sloan Screenwriting Award, the American Repertory Theater's Phyllis Anderson Prize, the Kennedy Center ACTF's John Cauble Award (finalist), an O'Neill Playwright Observer Residency, and a commission from Young Artists at the Chelsea to write a site-specific play for the historic Chelsea Hotel. AB Harvard, MFA Carnegie Mellon School of Drama, where he studied with Rob Handel.

Babylon, or, Ignorance
Synopsis:
When Liza, Sam, and Owen were children, their father brought them deep into the wilderness, told them that the world had ended, and abandoned them. Ten years later, as Sam plans his escape and Owen receives orders from angels, Liza takes a risk that threatens to break their family apart just as chance brings them their first ever houseguest. A coming-of-age story about the terror of ambivalence, the tenacity of desire, and the deep hold of family, Babylon, or, Ignorance explores what happens when it feels like the world should end, but it doesnt.

CryHurtFood
Synopsis:
A little girl must be made to realize that she is not actually a little girl. Her parents must choose to save either their marriage or their family. A scientist must make an unthinkable sacrifice in order to cause an impossible transformation. Based on extraordinary true events, CryHurtFood is a new monster story about a chimpanzee who believes that she's a person, and what happens when her family decides that shes not.

Sea Change
Synopsis:
A woman must convince her dead husband that he is not dead. A poet wonders whether finding his muse is worth losing his best friend. A writer must claim her rivals story in order to steal his heart. When Mary Shelley, the author of Frankenstein, loses her husband, the brilliant Percy Bysshe Shelley, to an untimely death, she brings her memories of their shared past back to life in hopes of fixing what went wrong. Mary believes that if she resurrects her lost love, she can reclaim him. But her creation has other plans. A love story inside a horror story that features original music, dance, and puppetry, Sea Change explores the invention of modern love and the birth of a modern monster.

Steubenville
Synopsis:
Steubenville, a devised collaboration led by director Eleanor Bishop, responds to an infamous sexual assault through a collage of arguments and questions about rape culture, female sexuality, and feminism. Created for the Carnegie Mellon School of Drama Directors' Series, it incorporates found material from media coverage and trial transcripts, an original adaptation of Sleeping Beauty, and interviews with women at Carnegie Mellon.
