Chimp That Spoke, The
Synopsis:
In 1967, Roger Fouts, a psychology student, began to teach American Sign Language to a young chimpanzee called Washoe. Over thirty years their dialogue has continued - an incredible story of scientific and spiritual discovery. By sharing language, one of the great divides between man and animal has been bridged at a time when the last of the great apes are under threat of extinction. Acclaimed for their bold, visceral theatre productions, David Glass Ensemble present a moving meditation on our closest animal relatives and explore what it is to be human. Powerfully visual, funny and deeply affecting The Chimp That Spoke is a remarkable tale of friendship, courage and compassion. Funded by Arts Council England. The Chimp That Spoke follows Unheimlich Spine, and is the second piece in the Ensemble's Body Cycle.

Hoarder, The
Synopsis:
Richard Wallace is a chronic hoarder. His behaviour is so out of control that his own life is in danger. Gardener Andy Honey slowly gains his trust and begins to help him clear out over 30 tonnes of rubbish. This astonishing true story not only deals with the condition of hoarding but also explores ideas of loneliness, materialism, tolerance, and above all, how great things can be achieved when humans connect.

Lost Child, The
Synopsis:
Loosely based on Lewis Carroll's 'through the Looking Glass', 'the Lost Child' is a mesmeric visual poem which continues Gretel's journey through the mirror and into the world of lost children. Through a combination of extraordinary music, movement, lighting and beautifully choreographed special effects, 'the Lost Child' is inspired by the stories the Ensemble explored during their work with children in Vietnam, The Philippines, Columbia, China, Hong Kong and Cambodia.

Off the Wall
Synopsis:
Off the Wall was first performed at Polka Theatre, Wimbledon in 1997, in collaboration with the Tate Gallery to celebrate its one hundredth birthday. Using a wide array of skills and media including video, slides, computer graphics, puppets, mime, dance, movement and music, famous works of art spring to life in an extraordinary spectacle: sculptures fly apart, portraits tell new stories through mime or dance, computer generated graphics deconstruct abstract paintings, and surreal objects spin around in the air.
