Rahti (Sanskrit for the Goddess of Carnal Love and no, not the name her parents gave her) holds a BFA from NYU Tisch School of the Arts Acting Program. Her playwriting aspirations evolved as an outgrowth of six years as a standup comic beginning in 1988, when gradually, she got tired of always having to be funny. Rahtis solo theatre piece When You Try, formerly When You Try To Save Your Life You Lose It, was performed to critical acclaim at several New York venues including the legendary WOW Café Theatre, TODO Con Nada and the WorkShop Theater from 1999 through 2004. When It Rains, Rahtis first full-length play, was cited in Backstage as one of the best plays of 2004 in their end-of-year review. In 2008, she wrote, produced and appeared in Bad Behavior, 4 Short Plays as part of the NYU Graduate Acting Alumni Associations Studio Tisch, a summer festival of new work. Her one act play Diaphanous was presented at Girl Play Fest 2013 at the Women's Theater Project in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Currently, Rahti is developing a play about trans-generational trauma and the Holocaust tentatively entitled Force of Nature, which was presented at Studio Tisch as a work in progress during the 2013 season. By day, Rahti is a professional certified life coach specializing in helping visual and performing artists with ADHD thrive personally and professionally. She is a member of Actors Equity Association and Screen Actors Guild. .
