Hippie Doctor

Synopsis:
Hippie Doctor follows a young intern's journey into the heart of the Sixties counterculture from the 1967 March on the Pentagon through the tumultuous events following the student shooting by National Guardsman at Kent State in 1971. Sid is a 23-year-old middle-class Jewish son of a Liberal Democrat physician working for President Lyndon Johnson's Surgeon General. Sid's post-demonstration sexual acting out leads to a separation from his wife, Marsha, but the two continue as road buddies heading west in search of a rock festival. Later, in 1968, we find Sid as a full-blown hippie doctor joins a free clinic in a converted firehouse renamed the earth Station. Sid's initial joy in his break with the establishment begins to be complicated as he clashes with those willing to compromise with the system and has to confront the impracticalities of revolutionary medicine without a revolution. Confused by his chaotic life, Sid flees medicine in a converted truck dubbed the Hippiemobile. after further encounters with himself, his dying father, and a draft dodger in hiding whose brother has just died in Vietnam, Sid contemplates an overdose of hallucinogens in a frantic attempt to find meaning in the choices he has made.

Party Favor

Synopsis:
Ten years earlier, Barry had pimped out his then-girlfriend Katie to his older friend and colleague, Nathan. the action begins when the death of Barry´s beloved dog is the precipitant for Barry to look up Katie for reasons unclear to either of them at first. Katie overcomes her own reluctance to talk with Barry because of her need to show him a retained item from their shared past. Through reminiscence and flashback, they view the road taken at that past moment in time. Barry´s attempts to apologize collide with Katie´s disclosure of the uncashed check written by Nathan, underscoring the uneraseable nature of the choices they each made at the time.
