Cock And Bull

Synopsis:
A piece that made surprisingly musical use of familiar cliche, and found rich choreographic material in conference platform pacing and the TV sofas of political punditry, it was also, as you might expect, about the male dominance of those, ballot box crosses in black electrical tape over the women's nipples beneath their men's garb. - Keith Bruce

Fire In the Night, The

Synopsis:
Ok. This is what we will do. We will be a group aged between 17 and 26. We will set off. We will work together for around 55hrs, on around 20 different occasions. We will be around 25 in quantity, depending on how many we lose on the way. We will remember that in the olden days, before hoodies were invented, people used to communicate in the evenings. Telling stories, playing music etc. We will do the same. We will engage in feats of daring. We will watch the wonders of the universe in a single exchange. Later we will invite others to do the same. Please join us for the fire, it's getting colder now.

Motherland

Synopsis:
the second installment of a performance diptych, Motherland is a gentle ethnographic investigation into place, belonging, authenticity and identity, home and homelands and further understanding the edges of oneself in relation to where you come from. Brought up by her opera singer mother in Yorkshire, Green draws on the cultural and environmental landscape of her Motherland: the wooded, industrialized valleys; the sweeping, blustery moorlands; the northern work ethic; the coal and the complex psycho-geography of this land. Fatherland, Motherland investigates how associations with place are interrelated with parental/masculine/feminine relationships to create a visceral, intuitive and spiritual collage of a woman further realizing her place in the world.

Shadowlands

Synopsis:
Nic Green's Shadowlands focuses on the phenomenon of 'waste' as both marvel and prodigy. Nic has witnessed one hundred tons of rubbish being poured into a pit, and noticed the homework of a seven-year-old girl amongst the rubble. She has seen hillsides of cars piled up, and a single deer amongst them. She wondered about a chorus of children standing in a world of waste. And she read that the shadow ignored multiplies, and the one accepted, eventually dissipates and lightens. the matter of 'rubbish' is hidden away from our day to day. It exists in continuous flux, its definition and composition unstable and disrupted. How do these ignored landscapes relate to the landscapes of our cultural and personal psyche, the landscapes of our bodies and physicalities? Is there spirit in such matter? How might we read the physical rubbish we hide away systemically as a metaphor for the self? This new site-specific work explores our relationship with waste and what we throw away. So we wade in.
