Remarried widow Mrs Millicent Meebles always understates the age of her son to make herself appear younger. She says Hughie is fourteen - in fact he is nineteen. Mr Burridge escapes but Millicent and Diana are arrested. When Mr Burridge arrives at court next day Millicent and Diana are up before him. He has no choice but to sentence them to prison. However, another magistrate finds a legal loophole and the sentences are quashed
