D.W. Gregory is a resident playwright with New Jersey Repertory Co.Ms. Gregory's work has been funded through grants from the National endowment for the Arts, the Maryland State Arts Council and the Alfred P. Sloan Science and Technology Project, and her plays have been developed at the New Harmony Project, the Shenandoah International Playwrights Retreat, the Mt. Sequoyah New Play Retreat, the First Light Festival of New Plays at Theater of the First amendment, and at Playwrights Theater of New Jersey's Roundtable and Concert Reading series. In addition to writing plays, Ms. Gregory is a former Theatre critic for the Washington Post and has served as an adjunct instructor of Theater history at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA. She has also taught playwriting as a guest artist at colleges and high schools around the country. Ms. Gregory makes her home in Silver Spring, Md., with her husband Paul, a bluegrass musician.

Oct 1962

Synopsis:
Set during the Cuban missile crisis, an ordinary middle American town is turned upside down when a convicted murderer is released and returns home. Despite the community's concerns, David Timmons, an upstanding citizen, takes the young man under his wing by giving him a job. His wife, Laura, is afraid that this act of goodwill will have repercussions with their neighbors. She is also concerned for the safety of her sheltered young daughters, Jean and Nan, who are curious about the mysterious young man seen riding around town on a motorcycle. events begin to plague the neighborhood, raising doubts as to the rehabilitation of the former felon and signaling the dangers that may lurk beneath the surface of this seemingly safe and secure town.
