Duke Of Hope, The         History Of the Troubles, The (Accordin' To My Da)         Nativity What the Donkey Saw, The         Paradise

Duke Of Hope, The

Synopsis:
presents Mel, a thirtysomething library assistant, who has two inter-related problems: he can't extricate himself from the pub or find anyone to have sex with. Guilt, disappointment and frustrated ambitions are wrapped up with skewed notions about women, the objects of his fantasies and fears. a swift Friday-night pint in his local turns into a six-hour session, as Melis tempted into drunken helplessness by his own alter-egos. endlessly postponing departure for his home town, where his Father is in hospital, he's abetted by the pub's regulars, one of whom is physically embedded in the bar counter and pops up like ajack-in-the-box, while the other brags goatishly about his sex life.
