Catherine Gropper ,playwright has had several productions in the USA and The British isles. Her reviews in papers in the Midwest and The NY Times and The Scotsman have earned four stars. Salome Jens starred in the playwright's productions Embers (as Nevelson ) and as Prudence Crandall in Miss Crandall's Classes ( strongly reviewed in the DC theatre scene). That play also starred Andrea Marcovicci workshopped at The Drama Book Store with directorial Assistance from Zoe Caldwell.The play received input and creative support from Melly Still before Its premier at The MeadTheatre in the nations capital. Ms.Gropper studied directing under Evan Yionoulis at a summer intensive at Yale University. Catherine completed her masters in philosophy at Columbia University in 1978. She recently completed a sixteen week CTI program for producers under Jed Bernstein in NYC,12, and helps to bring productions to a wider tri state audience. Her recent readings include Summer Rental, a comedy ,and Living With Hope ,a one act . She is one of four founders of the Women's Initiative and is a member of The league of Professional Theatre Women and The Dramatists Guild.
