Since graduating from the London School of Musical Theatre in 2006, Sarah has developed a passion for writing and her first one act comedy play, Getting Out, was produced in April 2009 at the Lion and Unicorn Theatre. Sarah then went on to co-write an outdoor version of CinderElla which she directed and was produced in December 2009 in North London. Getting away was Sarah's first full length play, produced by the Giant Olive Theatre Company in 2010. Sarah was subsequently brought in as a co-writer on Zip:Gun and Knife Crime, with Ray Shell and James Kenward, choreographed by Gary Lloyd. She was heavily involved in workshops with young people as well as writing a lot of the music and and lightening a heavy topic with a sassy 'greek chorus' of ghosts.

Getting away is Henley's first two act play. It tells the story of a graphic artist who has been commissioned to produce a graphic novel that will be suitable for commuters, containing tag lines for key sponsors. the trouble is, he is more at home with superheroes and evil villains. He draws on real life experience, painting in his unrequited love, Claire into the story. He also tries to reform his old superhero characters into a corporate state. In the comic he creates, a team of work colleagues go on a spa break - much awkwardness and infidelity ensues. the artist works through the night, struggling to find an ending. In the end, he rewinds the story and allows the superheroes back in for a huge, comic book fight finale. Buoyed with the confidence of finishing, the real Claire knocks on the door - the artist plucks up the courage to ask her out.

Getting Out
Synopsis:
Sarah Henley gives this, her first play, a setting she is familiar with, a private practice law firm. It is not a tale of corporate clients and financial skulduggery but a 'below-stairs' picture, as it were, of what's going on among the staff. It takes place 'at the height of the credit crunch,' and concerns itself largely with the sex lives of its characters. these assorted office types, based perhaps on Henley's own time in such a practice, are broadly played to emphasise their comic potential.
