Synopsis:
Written by 20 of Scotland's leading writers. Directed by Joe Douglas and Catrin Evans. The Portrait Gallery will take centre-stage this spring as the National Theatre of Scotland explores their collection through the written word and performance in Dear Scotland. In this unique work, twenty of the country's leading writers will pen short, sharp monologues inspired by the Gallery's celebrated portraits which will be performed as a promenade theatre piece, staged within the galleries.

Marco Pantani -the Pirate

Synopsis:
Marco Pantani was the greatest Italian Cyclist of the modern era. In 1998 he became a national hero when won the two most prestigious races in the cycling calendar, the Giro D'Italia and the Tour De France. 5 years later he was found dead and drug-ridden in a lonely Rimini hotel room. What drives a man to thepinnacle of professional cycling , yet leads him to the depths and of squalor despair? "the Pirate" traces Marco's journey from the poverty of his upbringing in the streets of Cesena, to his ultimate tragic end at the age of cruelly early age of 34.

Oscar Slater - The Trial That Shamed A City

Synopsis:
On the 6th of May, 1909, Oscar Slater, a Jewish immigrant, was sentenced to death for the brutal murder of an 83-year-old Glasgow woman, Marion Gilchrist. Slaters trial and its astonishing aftermath constitute one of the most shameful episodes in the history of Scottish Justice. Through police corruption and public bigotry, justice was never served for Marion Gilchrist, while the lives of two innocent men were destroyed forever.
