Not the Love I Cry For

Synopsis:
Robin Hooper's play is about being rejected, about the things that keep people apart, suspicious and hostile. This sounds cliched, but it isn't. Hooper has a subtle insight into hearts and minds. Danny Worters, looking like one of Caravaggio's beautiful boys, lost and dangerous, plays Craig, a young gay artist who loves emin (aykut Hilmi), an older Turkish student, but lives with Joe (Nicolas Tennant). emin, who is married but can't have children, loves Craig as Muslim men sometimes love each other; intensely, but not erotically. the point about Craig is that his mother, who was a nurse, died years ago, and he needs care and protection, but also freedom. the tragic explosion comes from his father: racist, homophobic and lonely, both destroyer and victim.
