Adelind (Addie) Horan is a New York-based actor and writer. Her parents, both actors, founded the Playwrights Theatre of New Jersey with a few friends in the late 1980s. When Adelind was three, they relocated to Charlottesville, Virginia where she appeared in numerous local productions throughout her youth. Brought up with alternative forms of education, Adelind knew at an early age that she wanted an acting career off the beaten path. Adelind trained in classical acting at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, and earned her B.A. in 2010 from Hampshire College where she developed her verbatim one-woman show about mountaintop removal in Appalachia, Cry of the Mountain. Her interest in developing this kind of work was greatly inspired by the projects of Anna Deavere Smith. After graduating, Adelind began touring Cry of the Mountain to festivals and theatre companies and received high acclaim from the Washington Post, nytheatre.com, DC Theatre Scene, the Scotsman (Edinburgh Fringe), and many other publications. Cry of the Mountain won Best Documentary 2012 at the worlds largest solo festival, United Solo at Theatre Row. Adelind now lives in Brooklyn, New York, focusing on improv, Shakespeare projects, and internet sketches. She will be playing lead roles in two upcoming independent films and is in the process of developing a film production company with her wonderful and talented friends.
