Synopsis:
Trapped and alone in his workshop, the great inventor Daedalus is putting the finishing touches to two giant pairs of wings. . .the Open Cage is a one-act opera, a collaboration between librettists Adam Donen and Adam Horovitz, composer Danyal Dhondy and designer Riitta Hakkarainen. Scored for two singers, with an ensemble of acoustic and electronic instruments, the piece uses an array of visual media in its unique retelling of the Icarus myth.
