Are We In Here?

Synopsis:
a "state of the nation play" examining what it means to be english (not British) at the beginning of the 21C. a village try to celebrate an occasion but the old guy who organized all the pageants has died. a village committee struggle to find people to "do what we do" apparently with little success whilst the salsa, karate, and belly dancing clubs fight them for the room in the hall. they all unite to fight a developer who would take the village green , whereupon skeletons rise from beneath it. But whose.?

Betty's Mirror

Synopsis:
Inspired by the mirror in the famous York Tea rooms (a WW2 wartime bar) on which bomber crews scratched their names, this combines humour, pain and passion in the evocative tale of a young bomber crew and the women with whom they share their "Nights off" and lives. . . short lives for some. the play does also look at the complex question of the dirty jobs some people get asked to do in wartime.

Country Voices

Synopsis:
Taken from the "oral history" of the last generation to work by hand horse and steam, the play takes a look at family-life on the land in the early years of the twentieth century. Non naturalistic in style ( the cast also play horses, pigs, statues and bath taps) it includes music and song.. the Guardian " the struggle for survival is not far away neither is the wit that made it bearable"

Fast Woman

Synopsis:
the story of Helle-Nice, exotic danceuse in the theatres of 1920s Paris, turns herself into a Grand Prix Driver and mixes it with the best drivers of europe.She lives life to the full with lovers galore then In Brazil she crashed into the crowd killing many and seriously injuring herself.after World War 2 she tries to make a comback as a rally driver entering the 1949 Monte Carlo rally but the night before the start, at the Gala dinner in the Casion in Monaco, she is publicly denounced as a collaborator with the Nazis. No evidence is ever found but she never recovers and dies in the back streets of Nice in poverty and obscurity

Old Curiosity Shop, The

Synopsis:
Radical adaptation of Dicken's classic in which the good Little Nell and evil Quilp are played by he same young female actor. again lots of physical theatre, non-naturalism and use of images. True to the inner life of the book it shows Dickens at his best, funniest and a master of the grotesque

Set in a Flotilla sailing holiday, some crews are families, some couples, some are complete strangers. all have secrets How on earth will they all get on? Storm clouds gather - literally and they are faced with a bigger problem. What to do with the strange girl floating left floating in the middle of the sea.

Rallying Round

Synopsis:
Rallying Round old soldier Airchie, played by Howson, cons his young carer Mo (Umar Ahmed) into giving him a lift to Monte Carlo. Its a journey that Airchie used take in his classic rally car with his old oppo Dougie, although as the journey progresses Airchie increasingly becomes confused about the route and the even the destination.

Sherlock Holmes And the Tiger Of San Pedro

Synopsis:
Holmes tracks the Tiger of San Pedro but his dying informant cannot tell him exactly what it is. a more domestic case interrupts to Holmes annoyance but finally this case and not his quest after a trail of murders leads him to the murderous Tiger.

Synopsis:
Life on the land in the 30s and 40s. Central character and narrator is a Fordson N Type Tractor. again a great deal of physical theatre and non-naturalism whilst taking a sometimes hilarious sometimes heartbreaking look at life for ordinary people on the land at that time.
