Brimful of Asha, A
Brimful of Asha, A
Synopsis:
a warm, intimate portrait of his relationship with his mother Asha - with both performers playing themselves. When Ravi heads to India for a theatre workshop, his parents decide that it's the perfect opportunity to set him up with "a nice Indian girl". The contrasts between their ambitious scheme and his reluctance reveal deep cultural and intergenerational tensions. Ravi's jovial incomprehension and fluent storytelling contrast with the deadpan criticisms and benign smiles of Asha (who's not a professional actor, makes no secret of her low opinion of the profession, and takes a modest pleasure in stealing scenes).
