Fuga Per Canonem

Synopsis:
Spanglish collective Teatro Entre Escombros hit London with their most recent creation, Fuga per canonem, a two-handed tragicomedy which unfolds betwixt the extremes of light and dark, the epic and the banal, the mythic and the modern. In short, a tale of solitude, fate, and bad timing. On a desolate island in the high seas (the kind of place where Sophocles might meet David Lynch), an age-old siren works for the boss of run down cabaret shack Inferno, frequented by lonely sailors of the night. Blamed for the club's demise, the siren is sent to kill the lighthouse keeper, to sharpen her sex and gain control of the light. It should be a doddle, but his ear is resistant to her charms, and things get rather tricky. . .the Last Refuge will be split in two: our audience will travel with us as we subvert and pervert this outrageous warehouse space. A site never has been so specific!

Invisible City

Synopsis:
Invisible City follows Marie, a young woman from a small Welsh village moving to the big city. Marie can't wait to meet you all. . .maybe you're all going to be friends. Maybe you're going to fall in love?. . .maybe Marie is on the edge of an everyday trauma. On a dark stage, in a rush of sound, Marie arrives: grinning, and full of excitement and eager to make her mark. What follows is a unique, modern take on being a fish-out-of-water. Through humour, movement, speech and song, we see Marie's enthusiasm battered by passive aggressive supermarket checkouts, difficult job interviews and nagging phone calls from her mum. Then one day, a voice in the supermarket fruit aisle seems to strike up conversation. . .could this be the connection Marie was waiting for?
