I'm Amy, a 26-year old playwright and theatremaker from Mitchell's Plain, Cape Town, South Africa. I studied at the University of Cape Town and graduated with a Masters in Playwriting. Right now I teach theatre at the University of Cape Town while being a freelance playwright, screenwriter, columnist and theatre body. I write plays that sometimes get produced and sometimes continue to gather quite literal dust on my computer. I dabble in film. I direct stuff now and again, mostly my own work.

Damage Control
Synopsis:
Damage Control maps the secret lives of a several women bound by one space - a bedroom. A space where trust is betrayed, connections are severed, and the most intimate moments are flecked open. Where the objects surrounding these women - lace slips, tubes of lipstick, the silk sheets on a bed - take on sensuous and disturbing new meanings. Where undressing becomes a ritual, the walls brim with stories, and the body is dislocated from the world. With a single actress and a single stage, Damage Control opens up the door of a womans most private room and holds it up to an unsettling light.

Kitchen
Synopsis:
We say the most when we aren't speaking. In the silences between words we are at our most vulnerable. It is in the pauses where we really exist. Three scenarios present themselves: in the first, a woman on the brink of suicide converses with her absent lover. In the second, two women in captivity come face to face with a shared past. In the third, a young girl is tortured because she cannot remember her name. In a single room suspended in time, four women explore the ways in which silence manipulates, tortures and drives human beings to the brink of sanity.

Pornography
Synopsis:
Sex. Violence. Money. Crime. More sex. And a whole lot of videotape. Frank is on a straight road to nowhere. He's got no job, no plans to get a job, no talent, and while other people seem to be able to crack the system, Frank just can't do it. With his dreams of being rich and his obsession with Dr. Seuss, Frank is the guy you wouldn't look at twice in a crowd. Along for the ride is his girlfriend Marg, who's dragged them both out to her family home for a weekend to watch her sister get married. Stuck together in a basement room, Frank and Marg start to chip away at one another and realize that their lives are on a continuous spiral to down. But Frank has a plan. A very lucrative plan that could see the two of them become overnight millionaires. With other people's dirty laundry at his disposal and a slew of illegaldeeds, Frank's idea is foolproof. All he has to do is figure out a plan of action, not get himself killed, and convince Marg to play along like a good accomplice. With one night to outwit and undo each other, Frank and Marg find themselves drawn into a lawless game of power and manipulation - a greedy freefall of sex and sleaze, where the stakes are high, the consequences are deadly, and morality is almost non-existent. . .
