Letter To Lacey, A

Synopsis:
Kara sits down to write an email to someone shes never met: her ex-boyfriends new girlfriend. Reece was the love of her life and as Kara spills her heart out, we learn just what it took to be with him from their first meeting in the local park to their final showdown in a hospital. This play explores partner abuse and how it affects not just the couple involved, but their friends and family as well. Some of the content is shocking and sad; the musical numbers offer a little light-relief.

Notes:
Each year the National Theatre invites ten writers to create new plays for young people to perform. This spring 230 youth theatre companies will present the premieres of these plays in venues from Scotland to Cornwall and Northern Ireland to Norfolk. Each company will also perform at one of 26 Connections festivals in professional theatres across the country, and ten companies will go on to perform at the National Theatre. Connections celebrates great new writing for the stage and the energy, commitment and talent of young theatre-makers.

Little Baby Nothing

Synopsis:
They're typical teenagers - dabbling with Satanism, sex and Spar's finest vodka to an extreme metal soundtrack. Up on the roof of El's Bristol flat they're reciting the lord's prayer backwards, perfecting chalk pentagrams and making black cloaks out of El's Mum's sheets - their rucksacks stuffed with black candles, cigarettes and cheap booze. When one of their rituals gets out of hand and El's dead father is invoked, family relationships and friendships get twisted up in the brewing chaos that follows. Can they control the forces of darkness or will it all get out of hand? And what do you do when your Mum s as big a teenager as you?
