Bullets and Daffodils
Bullets and Daffodils
Synopsis:
the world's first musical based on war poetry comes to the West end with an all star team, featuring Dean Johnson's acclaimed rock interpretation of Wilfred Owen's poetry. Following the doomed poet's life from his childhood in Birkenhead to his death in the trenches just a week before the end of World War One, BULLeTS AND DAFFODILS is a unique musical theatre event. Second only to Shakespeare as our most studied poet, Owen remains a controversial figure in British literary history, both for his sexuality and for claims that he feigned illness to escape the frontline. In BULLeTS AND DAFFODILS, Owen's story is seen through the eyes of his bereaved and obsessive mother Susan, and is shot through with barn-storming musical interpretations of his most famous works. Several songs from the show have already been released as singles to airplay on Radio 2, and the show is currently being filmed for BBC TV documentary Inside Out.
Notes:
By Dean Johnson. Additional music by David Gilmour (Pink Floyd) and Schultz Vogul. Book adaptation by Gavin Martin with additional material by David Quantick.
