Susan Johnston is a seven-time published playwright who completed her MFA in Dramatic Writing at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts where she received the Harry Kondoleon Playwriting award. Her plays have been produced and/or read all over the country. She's received a MacDowell Colony residency, a Jerome Fellowship and was a Fulbright nominee. She has been the recipient of an Nea grant, a MN State Arts Board Career Opportunity Grant, a WV State Arts Grant and the Pilgrim Project Grant. She won the 2009 La Weekly annual Theatre award for Playwriting for her play How Cissy Grew which was published by Dramatic Publishing in July 2009. How Cissy Grew is currently in development with the New Group, NYC. In addition, Susan has worked as a film industry reporter for Interview magazine and was an interstitial writer for a&e's popular Biography series. Her first novel Party Favors co-authored with Nicole Sexton was purchased by entendre Films with Susan attached as scribe. She is currently on deadline for the screenplay of Party Favors plus two new novels, Brother Stateless, Sister Refugee and her own memoir Mentropy. Her webisode series, the Making Of. . .is in development with Brick City TV. Susan is represented by abrams artists agency in NY and Principal entertainment in LA. She originally hails from Charleston, WV but currently resides in Santa MonicA.

Synopsis:
When Sabrina defends the school janitor and stands up to Donna, the Head Majorette, she loses her friends, her boyfriend, and her life of easy popularity. Furious, Sabrina enlists the team of Flag Girls as her allies in a cutthroat battle for the title of Homecoming Queen. When a drummer girl named Liddy steps into her life, Sabrina thinks twice about what winning means-and faces a difficult choice between honesty and acceptance. the play deals with seemingly "adult" issues confronted by students every day. Ms. Johnston is deeply dedicated to writing socially relevant and serious work for young adults.
