Alex Jones was born and bred in the Black Country. He became an actor and playwright after various jobs in manufacturing and building industries. Plays include Mickey and Me (Birmingham Rep/Swan Theatre), News Of the World (New Birmingham TC), Flesh, Blood and Formaldehyde (BBC Radio 4) and the critically acclaimed Noise for Soho Theatre, which received its American premiere with Furious Theatre in Los Angeles. Other credits include: Lightbulbs (Critics Choice, Time Out), a Miracle In No Man's Land, the Worcester Pilgrim(Critics Choice Guardian/Radio Times), the River Severn Poems (Radio 4), Deadwood(Stagecoach winner) produced at the Watermill Theatre, Scary antics and Fallen angels, both for the Shysters at the Belgrade Theatre, Phil&Jill&Jill&Phil for Belgrade Theatre, Mencap Goes Large, a play commissioned by the Mencap charity, the Heart Of the Wood and the Bridge (Pentabus/Mouthpiece Theatre), Nine, a series of linked plays for venues in Wednesbury in the Black Country as Year Of the artist; produced again the following year by Carlton Television Children's Workshop, River's Up for the Stephen Joseph Theatre and Teatro dElla Cometo in Rome and 2 Minutes Silence for a cast of over 250 performers for Shrewsbury Festival. He is currently working on various commissions for the Watermill Theatre, Stephen Joseph Theatre, BBC Radio 4 and Worcester Cathedral among others. Films include: Greasy (Best Short, Birmingham Film Festival), Faster, Harder, Longer (nominated Best British Short, Kino International Film Festival), Rhubarb and Roses, Marvellous Motors and Whistle.

Bridge, The

Synopsis:
For some people sorrow can be an eternal nightmare. How do you escape the past when it will never let you go? Tom and Lucy are on the run. Offered shelter and friendship by a stranger they hide away in an ancient house. as time passes Lucy becomes convinced shes been in this house before  hundreds of years before. . .when she and Tom were fugitives running from Oliver Cromwells army after the bloody Battle of Worcester had put an end to the long and bitter english Civil War.
