Blind Fiddler Of Glenadauch, The

Synopsis:
The Blind Fiddler Of Glenadauch explores the idea of cultural and familial legacy through the story of one Belfast family. After the death of her beloved father Pat, Kathleen, a prosperous civil servant, goes on a bemused pilgrimage to Station Island in Lough Derg to retrace his annual visit and to try to understand why he allowed her childhood to be sacrificed to the social ambitions of her mother. In flashback we see the younger Kathleen in the pub her father owned in Belfast where she spent her happiest days among the impoverished fiddle players, drinkers, chancers and raconteurs.

Christmas Eve Can Kill You

Synopsis:
the bulk of the show takes place in a cab driven by Mackers, a nice, single, fortysomething guy without much else to do on Christmas eve than pick up a few fares. It is a great comic conceit: the six additional cast members swap between characters at high speed, and a bit of fun is had when the cracks show and one actor or the other doesn't quite make it to their next mark on time. the assortment of folk Mackers picks up give us a slice of local life: the husband stuck in the pub on the way home from picking up the turkey, the family of women tearing each other up on their way to a do, and Mackers's buddy, who is masquerading as Santa and peddling contraband vodka from his sack.

Stones In His Pockets

Stones In His Pockets
Hollywood comes to rural Ireland , where the locals are hired as extras in a romantic, cliche ridden "Oirish" epic set at the turn of the century. the Kerrymen's delight over the lashings of free food and 40 quid a day for doing virtually nothing gradually turns to resentment, however, of this patronising new form of US imperialism. and the mood turns downright ugly when a troubled teenager commits suicide and it looks as though the film bosses will prevent the locals from attending his funeral.
