A funny, moving and ultimately uplifting production featuring covers of well-known songs by artists ranging from Tom Jones to the Sex Pistols.

Dandelion

Synopsis:
Much of the work of Blackwood based poet, playwright and lyric writer, has been strong and challenging. In this new play he is in a much gentler mood. The play is a sensitive tribute to the human spirit. This beautifully written story revolves around the lives of four people, three women and one man living in a hospice. Not much of a place for laughter you might think, but the irascible and determined way Ernest continually strives for his rights and fights against authority brings us many hilarious moments in contrast to the gently beauty that permeates much of the action.

Notes:
The play was first presented as a Script-held performance On The Edge in September 2009.

Everything Must Go

Synopsis:
Uses the songs of the Welsh pop explosion as abacking that's thematic as well as sonic. as the five young characters deal with disaffection, discontent and drug-taking in the Valleys, bursts of the Manic Street Preachers, Stereo-phonics and Catatonia chart their course. the five actors confidently portray the generation usually known as "lost". But it's in the monologues -based round want, disease, ignorance, squalor and idleness, the five social ills identified by aneurin Bevan - that Jones's voice finds its ideal platform. Backed by re-orchestrated Manics instrumentals, theyrecall the angryperformancepoetry of eighties agit-popsters like Joolz. and, in that old stylistic form, Jones delivers his most damning indictment of the new (New) political order.

Lament For Moths, A

Synopsis:
a Lament for Moths is a roller-coaster ride through the journey of two children growing up in a world where the moths (gentle, sensitive people) are trampled by mammoths (the brazen and manipulative). It is told through the eyes of Joe and looks at what and who creates violence and its effect on young people. He and his young friend Ruby are friends since childhood and the action follows their lives against a background of family breakdown and how adults can, unwittingly, scar their children by the effects of their own emotional conflict. Patrick says: "the title is from a Tennessee Williams' poem and one of the earliest poems I loved. When we talked about the development of the play its metaphor seemed perfect." Patrick says the style of the Drama is expressionistic with musical montages from James Dean Bradfield of Manic Street Preachers providing beautiful sound tracks to the quickly changing scenes.
