Born in Paris, KY. Studied Literature and Creative Writing at Washington State, Los Angeles City College and Writers Guild of America's Open Door Program. Director of Writers Workshops at Performing Arts Society of Los Angeles, 1974, and Paradox Playhouse, Los Angeles, 1978. Certified to teach Drama and Creative Writing in Los Angeles. Has published short stories, the Price of Dirt, Children of all (a sci-fi children's book featuring black super-heroes); wrote TV documentary, TV's Black Im-age Syndrome and Protest and Beyond (NBC); created Denise Douglass, DDS, sitcom optioned to Twentieth-Century Fox. Member, WGa, West, Dramatists Guild of America. Recipient: Gwendolyn Brooks Literary award, 1972, Best Short Story; aRTACT Playwriting award. Received Puffin Playwright's grant; Received California Arts Council Playwright's Fellowship/artist in Resident award; Recieved commissions from Mark Taper Forum and Arena Stage; Director Los Angeles' Wordsmith Playwrights Workshop (CaC & Cultural affairs dept.)
