Raised in the Netherlands born 01 Dec 1988, educated in England, Daniel's plays are widely appealing and always thematically interesting. Shortlisted for the Cambridge Footlights prize for new writing in 2012, he specializes in comedy, but also draws on his substantial knowledge of the theatrical world. His comic writing is influenced by English language situation comedies and the world around him, focusing on human relationships and how we conduct ourselves in modern society. Most recently, his plays Guido!, co-written with composer David Ferris, and Way Back, played at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2013, to great critical acclaim.

Guido!
Synopsis:
It's 1605, and the Catholics are not happy. The oppressive rule of King James I has left them hungry for rebellion, and they need a figurehead to lead them out of the pub and onward to freedom. Guido Fawkes is the man they have been waiting for: he just doesn't know it yet! Caught up in a bad crowd and trying to impress the kind of girl his mother warned him about, he must battle destiny, comrades and his conscience to carry out the greatest act of terrorism the world has ever seen.

It's Complicated
Synopsis:
A fast-paced comedy about long-distance relationships in the modern world, with all the trials as well as the advantages. Daniel is a writer with nothing to write about. He has no inspiration; he hasn't been in love since Jo, who is now his flatmate. Awkward. He needs another relationship. Not just any relationship; a long-distance one. All the psychological perks, something exotic and exciting, without the socially awkward situations and the claustrophobia! What could possibly go wrong? Spurred on by his own internal monologue, Daniel suddenly finds himself with two girlfriends. Will he choose the perfect girl-next-door from the USA - sweet, funny and beautiful - or the Dutch one, who lives closer? Surely he's not just another one of those womanisers (or 'sluts') that he and Jo criticise so much? He can't have them both. Or can he? No. No, he can't. Social networking might have brought the world closer together but, with his own thoughts also competing to be heard, it's now too close for comfort.

Way Back
Synopsis:
Welcome to Beachy Head, East Sussex, the third most popular suicide spot in the world. Dreadful, isn't it? Only third. A member of Beachy Head's chaplaincy team, Carol has her work cut out when it comes to saving people from the brink. Can she go beyond the call of duty to save both depressed romantic Miles and attention-seeking ex-pop star Randy? Poignant, stimulating, witty and entertaining, Way Back is a genuinely daring new comedy, sensitively exploring the taboo themes of suicide, existential crises, and toothpaste. @WayBacktheShow
