Aladdin and the Twankeys

Synopsis:
The two golden rules of pantomime - daftness and naffness - are impeccably observed, along with the cheeky puns and in-jokes that had our hands red-raw from all the clapping. There are, however, a few unexpected breaks with tradition. For starters, there is actually a plot, in which Abanazar seeks out China's oldest man to guide him to Aladdin, the Chosen One, whom he believes will lead him to untold riches - before discovering that Aladdin has an identical twin brother (who looks nothing like him), while the Genie of the Bling keeps knocking himself out and waking up thinking he's someone else. OK, a plot-ish.

Notes:
The Signal Box Theatre is being used for this summer's production of The Railway Children and has been shipped from Toronto. The super structure will seat 1000 people in a fully functional, warm and comfortable environment, positioning audiences either side of the central stage area. With only ten rows from front to back it means you will be closer to the action than ever before.

Humpty Dumpty

Synopsis:
This year's take on Humpty Dumpty takes as a given the thinness of the original nursery rhyme in terms of plot, and from the outset introduces us to the land of "Pantoloon", a domain of the imagination happily inhabited by, among others, Snow White, Old King Cole, Simple Simon and Zebedee. the latter provides a role for Kaler's regular foil, Martin Barrass, who, after a bouncy entrance on springs, settles into the position of a genEric, nonspecific (though perfectly attuned) feed for Kaler's dame, Old Mother Hubbard.

Old Mother Goose

Synopsis:
Good versus evil is put to the test when two fairies battle for supremacy. The bad fairy claims any human being can be corrupted; the good fairy throws down a challenge and chooses Old Mother Goose as an example of all that is good and cannot be corrupted. The bad fairy sets off to prove the good fairy wrong. So begins yet another classic panto tale of the unexpected', a tale to mystify your senses, a tale to tax anyone's credulity, but above all a tale that will have the whole family enthralled in a world of laughter that never ceases. It's true why not book now and find out if we're just telling tales!
