So they hatch a scheme to backdate Tom's employment records and blame the whole thing on him. they enlist working mother Stacy DeLora, an office temp and wannabe actress to "babysit" Tom. Stacy has her own problems finding babysitters for her real kids, Marcy and Brandon, and taking care of her on-again, off-again boyfriend, Des Dooley, a laid-back jazz saxophonist. He devises a plan to hide the discrepancy to protect her, only to learn the cold, hard truth. then, just when everything seems hopeless, Diane's former mentor, Joe Germaine, now a gentle homeless man with a psychiatric disorder, comes to the rescue and sets everything right.
