Educated at the Christian Brothers School, Lewisham New South Wales. He left school at 14 and had a variety of jobs - eventually becoming involved in concert parties for troops encamped around Sydney. He wrote his first play at 21. In the 1950's he became a leading radio actor and wrote numerous television plays in the 1960s and 1970s.

Hard God, A
The story of the Cassidy family. Dan and his wife aggie and his two brothers Martin and Paddy and their wives. Dan is the pillar of the family the one the others turn to in times of trouble. One year whilst the family is on holiday in Woy Woy NSW Dan's son meets Jack. Jack is immediately attrached to Dan and makes his intentions clear. at first Dan is confused but a relationship develops between the teenagers - but will it just be a summer love?
