Broken
Synopsis:
Part of Tiny Plays for Ireland: Fishamble, in partnership with the Irish Times, asked the Irish public what can be achieved with three minutes of stage time, what are the issues that need to be addressed, and who are the people that should be brought to life in the theatre? Fishamble received over 1,700 plays from every county in Ireland and many countries beyond. Tiny Plays for Ireland combines selected works by members of the public and dramas by some of Ireland's best loved writers to provide one dramatic picture of Ireland at the crossroads.

Fingers Of Faversham, The
Synopsis:
the play features an amdram company of long standing that is going off the rails. For some unexplained reason, its moving force Margery, played by Francesca annis, has recruited a new director Nina Sosanya's Denise to create Wind in the Willows within a thrust. the in-jokes abound as this dedicated, young auteur viciously deconstructs Kenneth Grahame's classic in a fashion that seems all too believable.

Halcyon Days
An uplifting, bittersweet Drama set in a nursing home, celebrating friendship and the human spirit. A nursing-home conservatory. Sean sits alone, abandoned to his memories. In storms Patricia, a feisty woman with a zest for life and for handsome men in wheelchairs. A wary intimacy develops between the two, an unforeseen relationship, by turns charming and combative, tender and funny. Infused with wry humour and humanity, Deirdre Kinahan's Halcyon Days is a celebration of our quest for meaning in even the most seemingly hopeless of circumstances.

Transgressor, The
the King James Version of the Bible (KJV) is a foundation stone of the english language. the KJV was composed as a collective project and written to be spoken. Sixty-Six Books has been created, in the spirit of the original, in the same way. Pulpit to print; stage to page; mediated through many forms oral and written, the KJV has, since its inception, been a fundamental part of written and spoken english. This is a work that has travelled to every continent of the globe. It has been shared as a melodic instrument of inspiration, illumination and mutual understanding; and it has also been wielded as a tool of colonial oppression. Sixty-Six Books is a fresh interpretation of the KJV for the new millennium, celebrating and challenging the traditions and achievements of this great work on the occasion of its 400th anniversary. the curators of this project have gathered together a formidable and inspiring line-up of the best established and emerging writing talent to produce a new version of the KJV for thetwenty-first century. each writer has created anew a book of the KJV - as prose, poetry, Drama, performance, song, or ground-breaking digital form. each writer has spoken back to the KJV with untrammeled inventiveness of the imagination. the voices of Sixty-Six Books, drawn from across five continents, innovate, transmute, transpose, reinvent and talk back to four hundredyears of history. all the works that make up Sixty-Six Books are written to be spoken. Culminating in major performance events at the Bush theatre and Westminster abbey in 2011 in London, Sixty-Six Books is a contribution towards the mutual curiosity, tolerance, and force of collective enterprise and shared humanity that characterizes the international and ancient Arts of writing and spoken performance

Wild Sky
Synopsis:
WILD SKY tells the story of a blighted love story between Tom Farrell and Josie Dunne, two young friends from Slane, County Meath. Tom has loved Josie since he was six years old but Josie loves his best friend Mike Lowrey. The three grow up together and become caught up in a maelstrom of influences that bubble beneath the surface of an apparently settled, loyal and conservative county on the boarder of Dublin. Mike, a committed Redmondite joins up with the British Army believing that Irish Independence will be won in that war whilst Josie gets involved with Inghinidhe na h'Eireann and the Irish Women's Suffrage League. Tom, the least political of the three, makes the decision to join the rebels in Dublin at Easter 1916. Kinahan's script charts the radicalisation of a generation through the small cultural, national and sporting movements that flourished in Ireland at the turn of the twentieth century, skillfully recounting the events leading up to and including the capture and siege of the GPO using the voices of two rural youth who are drawn into the momentous events of their age. While clearly historical in its telling the play with its themes youth, war and political idealism also resonates in the contemporary world. The play is intertwined and underscored by a suite of original songs by Grammy Award Winning Singer Susan McKeown including her settings of poems from that time and songs by Irish composers of 1916-1917 and performed live by Mary Murray. WILD SKY is directed by celebrated theatre director Jo Mangan and features Irish Times Award Winning Actress Caitriona Ennis and Ian Toner.
