I was born and raised in Syracuse, NY. I have a BA in theatre and french from SUNY New Paltz in upstate New York and the L'universite de Neuchatel in Switzerland, graduated summa cum laude in 1991. I learned how to be a fearless and an empathic performer by doing interactive street theatre at renaissance festivals and Walt Disney World. Started developing some of the monologues from my second one woman show Kelly Kinsella Live! Under Broadway at the Manhattan Monologue Slam where I was champion. I went on to develop the rest of that show in a master acting class led by George DiCenzo. My peers in that class were very supportive and willing to both listen to a lot of material and generously provide priceless feedback. A mentor, teacher and advisor to me has been David Shiner, an amazing physical comedian and story teller who works from a dark place like myself and proves that if done well it can be very entertaining! And finally, to have found a kindred spirit and voice in my director, Padraic Lillis is an utter boon! David Shiner once told me that, "to succeed as a solo performer you need a director and he/she needs to be smarter than you." I believe I found that in Padraic. Under Broadway, written and performed by Kelly Kinsella and an official selection of the New York International Fringe Festival. Produced at Ars Nova and Upright Citizen's Brigade in New York and Los Angeles; When Thoughts Attack, written and performed by Kelly Kinsella and an official selection of the ninth annual soloNOVA Festival. Produced by Ars Nova, The Duke on 42 St, and regionally and on college campuses all over the northeast; Two Peons in a Pod, written and performed by Kelly Kinsella and Gordon Boudreau and an official selection of the Seattle Fringe Festival; Angie, written by Kelly Kinsella and produced by the Labyrinth Theatre Company master class; Frans, written by Kelly Kinsella and produced by Matt Corozine Studios. I did many of the voices on the original Grand Theft Auto video game produced by Rockstar Games. I have been working backstage in wardrobe on Broadway for 15 years and am currently at Jersey Boys. I dabble in stand up comedy.
