It's All One
Synopsis:
Bottom and Flute are back from the first rehearsals of Shakespeare's new play, A Midsummer Night's Dream. When the drinkers in the tavern tease Nick for not really understanding Shakespeare, we're all enlightened by three sets of travelling players, each showing the wedding scene from taming the Shrew: a dumb show, an imagined C21st English version and one - by now - very understandable- Elizabethan version. With iambic pentameter explained in dance and rhyme, it's Muppets meets Marx Brothers with Shakespeare in-between.
Notes:
Commissioned by Theatre Royal Bath's ENGAGE programme for a cast of 10-12 community actors and young people. A fun show to help audiences from 8-adult get an enjoyable and confident grip on Shakespeare's language.
