Larry Kunofsky is a New York-based playwright whose work includes My therapist, a monologue play for forty-five actors; the Cat Person, a two-hander, with 35 live cats; So Retarded - a Play For Idiots, a kind of Vagina Monologues-takeoff on the mentally challenged; bender/gender/straight/&neutered, a play-cycle on the ever-changing nature of sexuality; Vicky Victim, about vicious office friendships among women; Social Work (a nightmare), about health care, race, and Internet dating; and the Worst Person In the Whole entire World Of all Time ever, which is about everybody's mom. He has been a three-time winner of the John Golden award for Drama and a resident at the Edward albee Foundation. His work has been excerpted in the 2009 editions of the Best Men's and Best Women's Stage Monologues and Scenes, published by Smith & Kraus. He is a member of the Dramatists Guild. He is the artistic Director of Purple Repertory Theatre. His play the Un-Marrying Project, a play about the fight for marriage equality in New York, which has now most fortunately become a period piece, was one part of Gay Plays For Straight People and also Gay People, the first mini-season at Purple Rep.

Synopsis:
a Guy adrift in the Universe is a dark, manic, hilarious, loopy ride. Imagine Muddy Waters writing an episode of the Simpsons. This here's the story of a Guy. He's born, lives his life, then he dies, which seems really sad, but it's also really funny, somehow. along the way a Guy has to deal with a doctor who refuses to put him back in the womb, parents who don't know why the sky is blue, a boss who won't pay him unless he works every day, a wife who won't love him so much if he doesn't pay the bills, an angry lesbian daughter who thinks she's so cool, a son who reminds a Guy of someone he's not sure he likes, and lots of other people who don't seem to accept that a Guy is the center of the universe. You'll appreciate this here story of a Guy adrift in the Universe if you're a guy, or if you've ever known a guy. and maybe even if you're not or if you haven't, either.
