People Of the Empire
Synopsis:
Set in Trinidad, Colorado, in 1903, at the time of the great UMW coal miners strike. the strike remains a backdrop to the lives of people of the town swept up within it. Darvis had been a leader of men in a previous strike but its failure and many deaths has broken him. His brother, Caemon, is full of fire but is corrupted by Flanagan, an
agent (in 1981) of the mine owners. Marita, mistress to Darvis and Jacob, a Jew from Russia, embodies the destructive forces unleashed by the emerging society which pays no mind to the human being in its frenetic drive to industrial organization.

Whispers
Synopsis:
Jana Latvis, in prison and exile since 1941, secretly writes of her past in the hopes that someday the truth of what she has seen will be known and do some good. Neftaly Savaty, a Jew just let out of the camps, somewhat in a state of shock, and trying to walk across Siberia to his home in Minsk, comes to her cabin in the middle of the night, frozen, starving and frightened. their common bonds of suffering at first bring them together but then turn to guilt and hatred because of what each did to survive. It will take all their strength to reach a point where each will still recognize the humanity of the other and go his and her own way.
